On April 11, Mr. Jason Shin, the OFR Expert
Operation Specialist, was invited to deliver a lecture about his employing
company, the Deutsche Post DHL from Germany. Mr. Shin is a graduate from the
Incheon University and he majored in German language and literature. The main
purpose of his presentation was to give all the students an insight on the
company’s work environment and job opportunities. Since he is an INU alumni, he
gave very useful information on how to successfully get a job at the logistics
market leader.
After presenting some general current information
about DHL, he continued talking about the history & development, the firm’s
vision, the various sectors, and lastly job opportunities.
DHL is the Germany’s largest logistics company. The organization’s vision is to become the No.1 in the entire world. Their services are largely divided into four sectors: Express services, e-Commerce, Freight transportation, and supply chain.

The presentation was very interesting for
the entire audience because he gave us helpful tips. After the class, many
students asked questions, especially about the practical aspects of application
and interviews. I also wanted to know, which abilities and skills I require for
job like his and whether or not I would be the right person for this firm. I
believe that this kind of information can only be acquired from an insider.
A very exciting opportunity is the ‘Trainee
Program’, which gives trainees an insight on the job in the logistics field,
before they actually step into the working world, so that they can acquire
advanced knowledge. It is basically the job, but you always have a counsellor
by your side to help you when you make mistakes. That is an ideal start for
less-experienced or inexperienced graduates. Mr. Shin himself was also hired
through this program. As this program is new to many students, it was great to
have had Mr. Shin pay us a visit and explain it to us in detail. Now, that we have gained more knowledge on the Trainee program, we
can start preparing for it!
